Selecting Courses
The first step in selecting your courses is to look at the course equivalency list for Shidler. This list will allow you to see what courses have already been approved and see what are some courses you are able to take. Unlike UH, you do not have much freedom to select the classes you would like to take. Course registration occurs one week before the semester begins. As someone who likes to plan their courses ahead of time, this was very stressful. Therefore, prior to selecting Ewha as your exchange university, I recommend looking at the equivalency list to identify five classes, if not more, that you will be able to take. This is because course registration is on a first come first serve basis among ALL exchange students and each class has only 10% of their class count allocated towards exchange students.
Here are some steps to take before registration begins:
Here are some steps to take before registration begins:
- Look at the course registration capacity
- Based on the capacity for exchange students, rank the courses in order of importance for you to register
- Have EXACT course name, course number (5 digits), and class number (2 digits) ready
- Your personal information (residential address, phone number, etc.)
Add/Drop Period
During the first week of school, there is a course add/drop period. Whether you didn't like the courses you register for or need more classes, this will be the last time to finalize your schedule before the semester takes off (there is the withdraw period but you will not be able to add courses). The process for the add/drop period is very different from the initial course registration. It is on a first come first serve basis among ALL Ewha students. However, the first couple of days are allocated to registering for courses with spaces still available. Then the rest of the days are allocated to registering for courses potentially dropped by students.
